Nostradamus a prédit:

The destiny of Churchill and De Gaulle

According to my own method of interpretation,
only french lines in dark blue will be analysed and interpreted

Quatrain II-89

Un jour seront démis les deux grand maistres
Leur grand pouvoir se verra augmenté.

La terre neuve sera en ses hauts Ítres,
Au sanguinaire le nombre raconté.

One day, two great rulers will be dismissed,
Their will return with greater power

The new land will be in its high season
To the bloodthirsty the number reminded.

Analysis:

Maîtres
démis

Masters. In politics, it is a person in authority, a ruler.
dismissed. It could also mean that one is not reelected, thus losing his post.

Interpretation

The two great strategists, Churchill and De Gaulle,
will be dismissed from their post
Churchill returns to the Admiralty
But they will come back with even more power.

History

Churchill and De Gaulle stand amongst the most prominent personalities of the 20th century. Nostradamus has joined these two people together in the same quatrain, because both have followed a similar political and military path, and they were, along with Roosevelt and Staline, the leaders of the allied forces during World War II.

Churchill:

Churchill began his political career in 1900 when he was elected at the House of Commons and, in the following years, he held many posts as minister. First Lord of the Admiralty in 1911, he was forced to resign in 1915 (seront démis - they will be forced to resign ).

At the onset of the Second World War in 1939 , he returned once again as First Lord of the Admiralty:
De Gaulle returns to the Assembly
He is elected President of France
[P.17] Winston is back! Such is the laconic message of the Admiralty broadcasted today to all units of the Navy around the world. From Singapour to Inverness, all marines understand that Winston Churchill is back as Lord of the Admiralty, a post he had occupied from 1911 to 1915 and in 1940, he became Prime Minister and undisputed chief of the army. [Leur grand pouvoir se verra augmenté - they will return with greater power]
[Translation - Chronique de la Seconde Guerre Mondiale, Jacques Legrand SA]

De Gaulle:

He looses his post as Secretary of State:
Under-Secretary of State to the Defense June 6, 1940, he looses his post [seront démis - they will be forced to resign] and takes refuge in England the day Petain asks for an armistice...

He returns the same year:
...June 18, he [De Gaulle] sends a broadcast to the French, asking them to continue the fight. He is recognized as chief of France Libre that will be later called France Combattante, and whose units continue the fight with the allied troops... November 13, 1945, the First Assembly confirms De Gaulle as President of the Provisional Government. [leur grand pouvoir se verra augmenté - they will return with greater power]
