The Execution of 17 Italian Partisans
According to my own method of interpretation,
only french lines in dark blue will be analysed and interpreted
Quatrain VI-59
Dame en fureur par rage d'adultère,
Viendra à son Prince conjurer non de dire:
Mais bref connu le vitupère,
Que seront mis dix-sept à martyre.
The Lady in fury, angry by reason of adultery,
Will beseech her Prince to say no:
But short will be the uprising,
When seventeen will be put to death.
History
When Mussolini took charge of the new fascist government in Salo, he got into trouble with the partisans who did not stop harassing his government and its troops. During the congress held in Verona november 14, 1943, Pavolini [the head of government] received a message that Ghisellini federal superintendant of Ferrare, had just been assassinated. Pavolini was not long retaliating:
[P.389] He will be immediately avenged. The audience screams: 'To Ferrare, all to Ferrare!' Pavolini asked the crowd to be silent. Then, he decrees that the fascists of Ferrare will avenge Ghisellini. November 15, the Squadristi and the republican guard reach Ferrare. Quickly, [bref connu le vitupère] seventeen bodies of known anti-fascists [dix-sept à martyre] lay out in the streets, guarded by militiamen in arms...

Note:
Curious coincidence, or rigorous application of the Old Testament.s 'an eye for an eye', when the time came to judge Mussolini, the partisans chose, among the fifty-one prisoners, seventeen that were to be judged and executed with Mussolini.
