Mussolini's Last Recourse: the Archbishop of Milan

According to my own method of interpretation,
only french lines in dark blue will be analysed and interpreted

Quatrain IX-95

Le nouveau fait conduira l'exercite,
Proche apamé jusqu'auprès du rivage:
Tendant secours de Millanoise eslite,
Duc yeux privé à Milan fer de cage.

The new feat of arms will take the army,
On the beach near Calabria :
Looking for help from the elite of Milan
The duke dead, in Milan metal cage.

Quatrain V-1

Avant venue de ruine Celtique,
Dedans le temple deux parlementeront.

Poignard coeur, d'un monté au coursier et pique,
Sans faire bruit le grand enterreront

Before the defeat of the Germans,
In the temple two will argue things over

Dagger heart, of one with a pike on a charger,
Without a sound the great will be buried.

Analysis:

Tendant

temple. Could also be church, synagogue.
will argue things over.

Dedans le temple indicates here that the meeting has something to do with the church. Not so many meetings have been held in a church in the course of history, and the present one must be important enough.

Interpretation

Seeking help from the elite of Milan,
just before german capitulation
Mussolini argue things over with his friend, the archbishop .

History

In 1945, shortly before german capitulation, such a meeting occurred in the archbishopric of Milan: the last recourse of Mussolini: his old friend, cardinal Ildefonso Schuster:
[P.417] Mussolini is scared. March 13, six days after a redondant speech to the officers, his son, Vittorio leaves for Milan. He is going to meet cardinal Ildefonso Schuster [L'élite de Milan], who once compared Mussolini to roman emperors. The cardinal... receives Vittorio who hands over a document: -- Proposition of talks.--
Thus, on the 16, Mussolini leaves for Milan. He settles in the police headquarters and accepts a proposition to meet with the Resistance at the archbishpric:
Musolini has total faith in cardinal Schuster, the archbishop of Milan, and, since the Comité de Libération Nationale [National Liberation Commitee] has its seat in town, a last minute negociation is always possible...
...Mussolini arrives at the archbishopric [dedans le temple], Piazza Fontana. He is alone with the cardinal. The man of the Church gives favorable consideration to his case and the two men chat for more than an hour [deux parlementeront]
'Thus you intend to continue the war in the mountains, asks the cardinal.
'A little more and then I will surrender'.
[L'Italie de Mussolini, Max Gallo]

However, refusing an inconditional surrender, Mussolini leaves empty-handed and, accompanied by ten motor cars filled with associates and close relatives, the Duce starts off again in the night bound for his tragic destiny.
